Real World Scenarios

The soybean processing plant was paying $0.35 more than the local elevator but Dave’s hired man who drives the truck would only haul to the local elevator.  It would have only cost $0.15 more to hire a truck to take the beans to the soybean processor but he didn’t know how to find an available truck in his area.  This situation cost him $0.20 a bushel on his beans.  Harvest Help makes those connections visible before harvest begins.

Colby bought a new skid steer and attachments to clear brush on his own farms.  He said two neighbors had already asked him about doing some work for them.  David commented he would buy more attachments and take on more jobs if he knew he could consistently find people who would hire him.

Adam finished harvest early this year and was willing to do custom work for two to three weeks before he put his machines away for the fall. A couple of neighbors said they might need him if they couldn’t get theirs done but were not sure yet. While waiting to hear from them, he was frustrated because he wished he could find additional work to keep busy and generate more revenue with his machines instead of waiting.

Potential Scenarios

Mike was looking to hire someone to help during the busy times during spring planting and fall harvest but was unable to find anyone to help.  He was frustrated with the lack of responses to a Facebook Marketplace post and couldn’t find part time seasonal help.  He was normally forced to finish the work by himself with some occasional help from family and friends. Harvest Help allows him to search within his local area and find multiple people looking to fill hired labor roles on the farm.  As a result, he was able to match with someone who was eager to work with him during the busy times of the year.

Sam was starting out farming but didn’t have many acres.  He decided to buy a drone and start his own chemical and cover crop application company.  It was a slow process to acquire new customers and while several people were looking to hire drones, it wasn’t easy to find him through traditional advertising.  Using Harvest Help, he was able to acquire lots of new acres much quicker for his company and during his off season he was able to find additional work applying food plots and cover crops along with utilizing his skills as a mechanic to find additional work.

Julie grew up on her family farm and had a wide variety of skills that made her very useful.  She was a member of FFA and was able to get an Ag Business degree in college. Her dad was not ready to pass the farm operations onto her, so she needed to go somewhere to use her skills. Through Harvest Help she was able to find a job working for a larger dairy farm where she could thrive using her degree and previous farm skills to increase their efficiency.
